Barn. c1600, extended mid-Cl7. Timber-framed with brick infill on lias lime-
stone rubble plinth, plain tiled roof. Three plus three framed bays aligned
east/west, both having central wagon bays with opposed cart entries and double
doors; older barn is situated to east. Framing: older part has four panels
from sill to wall-plate, short straight braces across lower corners of two
outer panels beneath tie-beam at east gable end; collar and tie-beam gable
end trusses with two collars, five struts to lower collar, three struts to
upper collar and V-strut in apex. Upper two rows of infill panels and also
east gable end panels have header ventilation patterns. Later addition has
three panels from sill to wall-plate, long straight braces in lower corners
of west gable end and, above a collar and tie-beam truss with three long
vertical struts to upper collar, small raking struts in lower corners and
a V-strut in the apex. Interior: two tiers of trenched purlins throughout;
older part has two intermediate collar and tie-beam trusses with raking struts
in the lower corners and upper collar, whilst the intermediate trusses in the
addtion have long vertical struts to the upper collar at the base of which are
angle struts to the lower tier of purlins. A C20 outshut beneath a catslide
roof adjoins the two central bays on the north side.
