Farmhouse, now house. Early to mid-C19, altered mid-C20. Brick on lias
limestone rubble plinth, shallow-pitched hipped slate roof with end brick
stacks. L-plan, main range aligned north/south with north wing; two storeys
with dentilled eaves cornice. West front elevation: four bays; windows are
glazing bar sashes with gauged flat heads; ground floor windows are 12-pane
sashes, first-floor windows are single-hung 9-pane sashes; main entrance in
second bay and has good, re-used doorcase of late C18 date with open pediment,
panelled soffit, engaged Doric columns with rosette decorated entablature,
6-panelled door, four panels of which are raised and fielded, and a traceried
segmental fanlight. The right gable end appears to have been rebuilt in C20.
The house and its associated farm buildings (qv) occupies a prominent site
at the juction of Church Road and Old Turnpike Road.
