Country house in landscaped park,now converted into flats.Mid-C18 by Anthony Keck;altered mid-C19 and mid-C20.Stucco,hipped slate roof behind parapet at front,large brick stacks at rear.Three storeys and cellar;modillion eaves cornice at front,band between ground and first floor,sill bands at all three levels,one:three:one bays,central bays break forward beneath pediment;windows have moulded,eared and shouldered architraves with projecting keyblocks;ground floor has large,and first floor has small,glazing bar sashes,second floor has six-pane sashes;central bay windows have plain surrounds;on the first floor is a Venetian window with consoles beneath each jamb,and on the second floor is a Diocletian window and an oculus with radiating tracery on the pediment;central entrance has a tetrastyle,Ionic portico and doorway with moulded archi-trave and consoles,part-glazed double doors and rectangular,traceried
fanlight.Interior:much altered;main rooms have retained ceiling mouldings;left front room has an Adam style fireplace;room to rear left has a modillion ceiling cornice,panelled walls and shell niche and panelled cupboard flanking fireplace;entrance hall has open well stair-case to all three floors with turned balusters and moulded handrail.Dr Treadwell Russell Nash,the county historian,bought the estate at Bevere shortly after his marriage in 1758 and lived at Bevere House during the latter half of the C18.
