Summerhouse. Early C19. A small timber framed octagonal
building, boarded at rear, on stucco plinth with pointed slate
roof and small finial. Facing E down the pool, with 3 segmental
arcaded faces on fluted pilasters with moulded caps. Centre open
up 2 steps, sides flush panelled in timber each with small
unglazed rectangular window with moulded architrave. Conical
boarded ceiling.Historic summerhouse formerly in grounds of
Hailey House said to have been used by Rev. T R Malthus when
writing his 'Essay on Population'. Moved into bath enclosure
1936 (Blunt (1966) 8, 28).
