Detached house. c1904. By Amos Faulkner; built by William
Willett & Son. Red brick with tile-hung 1st floor and rendered
gable with relief enrichment to eaves. Tiled hipped and gabled
roofs with tall brick slab chimney-stacks, that on right hand
return with stone band at base and modillion cornice, dormers
and overhanging eaves. Asymmetrical design. 2 storeys and
attics. Irregular fenestration. Right hand projecting entrance
bay with large gable sweeping down to 1st floor. Central
entrance with projecting timber porch of paired pillars, with
diaper design at capital level and linked by a balustrade with
fretwork heart shaped enrichment, supporting a barrel vaulted
hood; approached by a step reflecting the outline of the hood.
1st floor has bowed 5-light transom and mullion window, with
glazing bars, flanked by pilasters supporting a dentil cornice
hood. Flanking this, 2 small 2-light windows; 3-light attic
window in apex. Left hand recessed bay with casement windows
having glazing bars. Right hand return with projecting gabled
bay having a canted bowed bay through the ground and 1st
floors. INTERIOR: not inspected.
