Description

SO 33 SW LLANVEYNOE CP -

3/26 Brass Knoll Farmhouse

GV II

Farmhouse. C16 or early C17, with C20 addition, probably replacing an
earlier wing. Sandstone rubble with stone slate and Welsh slate roofs.
Rectangular plan, earlier main house aligned north-west/south-east with
south-east gable-end stack and projecting stair turret to north-east
side, later addition adjoins to south-west. Two storey and attic main
house, single-storey addition. North-west front: gable end of earlier
house to left with wooden 4-light diamond mullioned window in attic, one
2-light and one 3-light C20 window to first floor and similar 3-light
window to right ground floor, extending from the first floor is a section
of stone work and upper lintel which suggest the position of the garderobe,
further diamond mullioned windows survive on south-east gable end; single-
storey addition to right with doorway and 3-light casement window. The
doorway marks the probable position of the former through-passage. Interior:
largely intact with three plank-and-muntin panelled screens on lower floor
and two on upper floor with original doorways and good chamfered ceiling beams
throughout, large stone winder staircase.
