Farmhouse at Rossway Home Farm

Farmhouse. C16 E crosswing, W part rebuilt in C17 with large internal
chimney and lobby entrance, W wing brick fronted in C18, rest brick
fronted, porch added, and roof altered at rear to extend over rear
outshut after 1841 Tithe Map. Small E extension c.1984. Timber frame,
brick fronted, roughcast and painted brick. Steep front roof slope in
old red tile but flatter rear slope slated. A 2-storeys house facing S
into N yard with 2 1st floor 3-light casement windows and 4 ground floor
2-light casement windows with segmental arches and brick gabled porch in
middle to boarded door. Small central window over porch and straight
joint for full height of brickwork to LH of porch. Elaborate late C17
red brick chimney of staggered square shafts with projecting pointed
nib on E side and oversailing moulded cap. Exposed framing inside with
axial beam to floor of W part, jowled posts, wide-spaced wall framing,
clasped-purlin roof, and mortices for wind-braces now removed from E
wing.
