House. Late C18. Red brick, Flemish bond with pointing of high quality,
slated roofs. 2 storey, 5 bay house originally 'T'-plan now rectangular with
C19 addition at north-east and extensive 2 storey, double pile C18 service
wing to south-west. Main house has 4 ground-floor sashes with glazing bars
with stone sills and flat rubbed brick arches. First floor 5 similarly
detailed openings; 3 to north 2-light casements replacements, 2 to south sashes
with glazing-bars. Central door on 3 stone steps, wodden doorcase with half
columns, entablature blocks with triglyphs, cornice and pediment with
modillions, an unglazed fanlight filling in the arch. 6 panel raised and
fielded door with its own glazed fanlight, 3 panel raised and fielded reveals.
Stone coped parapet with roof recessed behind. Stone coped gables and 2 end
stacks. Service wing to south, 2 storeys, 3 bays. 3 ground floor sashes
with glazing bars, 3 first floor windows, comprising one sash at south, 2
replacement casements to north, all with stone sills and flat rubbed brick
arches. Garden front : 3 bay centre of late C18, 3 bay C19 addition at north
with 3 sided canted bow, 3 bay service wing to south. Original sashes with
glazing bars to centre ground floor, and to service wing. Interior : ground
floor front north room has c.1800 frieze and late C18 wooden fireplace.
Central hall has modillion cornice arch and staircase south room has late
C18 cornice. Rear room has late C18 cornice with urns and putti.
