House. Dated LDA 1726. Squared and coursed carstone with red brick dressings of high quality. 2 storeys and attics, 5 bays. Ground-floor 4 and first floor 5 sashes with glazing bars, brick rustication and flat rubbed brick arches. Rustication at extremities, then brick pilasters slightly proud of the facade, moulded eaves cornice, brick first floor plat-band. Central early-mid C19 stucco rendered porch angle pilasters, entablature and parapet, with 2 leaf part glazed under doors. 3 attic dormers, 2 light casements with glazing bars, with moulded triangular pedimented gables at north and south and segmental pediment to centre. Coped parapets, end stack at north, C20 concrete pantiles. 2 storey wing at rear, late C18 or early C19; stone with brick dressings; sashes with glazing bars, C20 pantiled roof.
Former ballroom and kitchen wing demolished.
Early in C20 used as co-educational school founded by Harry Loweninson, friend of journalist Robert Blatchford who worked as groundsman here.
