Farmhouse. Late C15, altered early C18. Timber framed with plastered wattle
and daub infill and pantiled roofs. T plan, the stem originally a first floor
hall of C15, the cross wing to north altered C18. 2 storeys. East front with
central door with 4-light C18 timber cross casement to left. Rectangular
pargetting to plaster. Jettied first floor with rod moulded bressummer. 2
C16 casements to first floor. Gabled roof. North cross wing with C18 casements
to south, C20 to north and stepped C16 external stack. Gabled roof. Southern
extension early C18 blacksmiths' with diamond stopped bridging beams and fire-
place, the stack of which incorporates original hall stack. Gabled roof of
black glazed pantiles. 2 gabled cross wings to west of original range, that
to south C18 with stepped external stack. Northern cross wing original with
2 C18 casements. Interior of lounge has fine bridging beam with 5 rolls, lower
fillet and tongue stops. Joists similar with rolled side chamfers. Close
studding of frame partly exposed but complete. Excellent roof of 4 crown posts
of square section with 4 arched braces carried on square jowled fillets.
Crown purlin and collars intact, the former with face-halved scarf joint.
