Description

WALSALL MB BOSTY LANE
SP 09 NW
Aldridge
7/9
Barn south-west of
Bosty Lane Farmhouse
GV II
Barn. Probably mid-C18. Brick with tile roof. North wall has two-storey
porch with hardwood truss exposed in gable. This has a king-post with
straight braces to the principals. To each side of the porch are single-
storey lean-tos against the front wall of the barn. The south wall has
breathers, and a cart entrance with a segmental arch which has blue brick
voussoirs. To the left is a first floor pitching door. Interior: to each
side of the entrances the roof is supported on brick cross-walls with
central openings. The roof was not fully visible at time of survey
(September 1985), but appears to have hardwood purlins. The truss visible
in the western part of the barn is similar to the one exposed in the gable
of the porch, and has at least one curved wind-brace.
