Primrose Hill Farmhouse

Late C15. Timber-framed south and east fronts fronted in brick in
early C20. Pitched tile roofs and brick chimneys. Two storeys. Hall
range close-studded and arched braced. Originally open to roof, floor
inserted above hall in late C16. C16 window inserted into ground floor
on north side. North side largely obscured by modern 2-storey timber-
framed porch. Cross wing of post and truss construction. Central
chimney. Two blocked C15 windows with original mullions on first floor
of west elevation: otherwise west elevation has 3 casements with lead
glazing bars on each floor. Ground floor largely refronted with brick.
Interior reported to have heavy smoke blackening to the hall range,
which has 2 tiers of curved windbracing and 4 surviving trusses,
including a spere truss with braces from the posts forming a sharply-
pointed arch, and a king-post truss with a pair of heavy struts rising
from the collar.
