Pumphouse. 1879. Common brick with red and blue brick and
stone dressings, hipped slate roof. 3 storeys, with tall
one-storey engine house to rear. 2nd floor sill band and
brick cornice. West facade of 3 bays with central
segmental-headed entrance with segmental-pointed fan. To
left 2 lancets with blind roundel over. 2nd floor has
central gabled window with diapered pointed tympanum. To
right a projecting round tower with rock-faced stone base
and diapered top with machicolated cornice and octagonal
timber top stage, with louvred openings and pyramidal cap.
5-bay returns have projecting ground floors with lean-to
roofs and central gabled entrances, that to south has 2
arches adjoining tower. 1st floor round windows and 2nd
floor central blind window and flanking windows, central
lateral stack that to south truncated. Rear engine house of
4 bays to north and south. Tall windows with segmental-
headed upper windows; central gabled pointed entrance that
to south bears date. On north side a truncated chimney
with weathered rock-faced stone base and upper part of brick
with set-back buttresses. West side shows signs of
demolished part.
