Post office, now part of Juvenile court; rear wing now
boxing club. 1905. Stone with hipped slate roof. 2
storeys, 5 bays and canted corner bay, then 14 bays to
Balliol Road. End 3 bays break forward with central bay
breaking further forward. Ground floor sill course and
cornice, banded quoins to forward breaks; 1st floor banded
pilastrade with paired pilasters and parapet. Ground floor
segmental-headed windows of differing widths have Gibbs
surrounds and large triple keystones. Windows have sashes
with upper glazing bars, and similar casements. 1st floor
windows have architraves, 4th bay round-headed window with
Gibbs surround and open pediment. 1st bay entrance has
architrave and round window over, with consoled segmental
hood. Canted corner bay has round-headed entrance with
round hood on Ionic columns. 1st floor is bowed with 3
windows between Tuscan colonnettes, entablature and cupola
with obelisk finial. Return has 3 bays similar and ll-bay
one-storey wing, rock-faced stone with ashlar dressings and
bands. Sill course flat, pilasters and cornice and blocking
course. Penultimate bay has round-headed entrance with gate
leading to courtyard. Gibbs surround and open pediment;
flanking windows with grilles.
