C1907-10, a good group of 3 former jewellery works, each of 2 storeys and basement
and 6 bays. The centre block is entirely faced in cream terracotta with green
plinth whilst the flanking works are of red brick, the left hand with buff terracotta
dressings and the right hand one with sandstone dressings. The left hand and
terracotta faced works are more demonstratively Arts and Crafts whilst the right
hand works has a classical trim. Vertical framed windows through both floors are
common to the central and right hand works but the left hand works has two large
semi-circular arched ground floor windows each occupying 2 bays. In all 3
elevations the end bays are advanced and contain the doorways, with rounded topped
gables in the first 2 but in the more classical right hand works with cornice and
parapet containing swag framed roundels. The fenestration retains most of its
decorative leading with the feature of canted oriels in the end bays of the
terracotta faced works. The group provides a good example of Edwardian and Arts and
Crafts detailing for works elevations in Birmingham, in this case being treated as one
eclectic composition.
