South west aspect. House, formerly six Alms Houses. Founded 1612 by Sir William Roberts, whose tomb and effigy are in St James Church in the village. Built of limestone, coursed and squared, heightened in brick C19 with plain tiled roof. Former paired doorways and two-light stone mullioned windows, the central windows grouped in closely adjoining pairs. One central doorway is still in use, the others blocked, but all have 3-centred arched heads. In the brick upper storey, small 2-light casement windows. Stone coped gables corbelled out and in the right hand gable wall the nesting holes of a former attached dovecote. Axial chimney stacks. (Photo Oct 2007).
