House and cottage. House is late C18 with early C19 wing to rear forming
L-plan. Early C19 cottage wing in 2 builds to right. C19 and C20 extensions to
left side incorporate part of small C18 structure. HOUSE is of red and buff
brick with Swithland slate roof, stone gable copings and flanking brick
chimneys. Double pile with single span roof. Chamfered plinth, moulded brick
eaves. 3 storeys and cellar. 3 bays. Upper storeys have 3-pane sashes with
gauged brick heads, the second floor windows square. Ground floor of left bay
has mid C19 bow window with 4-pane sash flanked by single sashes, wooden
pilasters and moulded wooden entablature. Cellar opening below. Early C20
canted bay window to right, with flat roof and leaded top lights. Central
flush-panelled door with radiating semicircular wooden fanlight and
flush-panelled arched reveals. Fine wooden doorcase with reeded pilasters and
open pediment on reeded brackets with guttae. 4 spreading stone steps. Right
end has small single-storey C20 extension with leaded glazing, and attached
cottage wing. Rear of house has early C19 wing with slate roof and dentil
eaves, and 3-light wooden casements and horizontal sashes. COTTAGE WING is of
brick with tiled roof and has 2 storeys and 2 bays. SE front has 3-light wooden
casements, renewed C20, with horizontal glazing bars and segmental heads. Doors
to left of each bay. C20 flat-roofed single-storey extension at left end.
