Stable block, probably early C17 or earlier, altered. Handmade brick with
some stone quoins on plinth of sandstone blocks. Corrugated sheet roof.
Rectangular plan, divided laterally by a brick partition wall. Two
storeys; west side has a wide doorway into each part, and 2 large loading
doors above offset to the right, all with large stone lintels; south gable
has a blocked doorway; east side (rear) has 2 altered openings, and slit
breathers above. (Later buildings abut on north and north-west sides).
Interior: large stop-chamfered beams on moulded stone corbels: 2
longitudinal in south part and 4 lateral in north part; loft of north part
has collar truss with angle struts, all timbers of large scantling and some
probably re-used. Listed for group value with Old Lea Hall Farmhouse as
one of the only 2 farm buildings remaining from the former manor house
site.
