Block of flats. Mid 1930's. Sir L. Keay. Brick with
concrete dressings, tile roof. Semi-circular block with
recessed connecting range,5 storeys. Main block of 61 bays,
the end bays recessed, with 9-bay returns, recessed range of
19 bays with low connecting porches, having round columns
with banded capitals. Sill and lintol bands, with banding
between windows, top parapet hiding roof. Large round
archway to centre of main block, parabolic archways to
recessed end bays. Recessed range has central round archway
with 3 balconies above. Courtyard has continuous balconies
and stair bays with round balconies on round piers. Inter-
war flats in the modernist style, inspired by Quarry Hill,
Leeds.
