Foulridge Tunnel

Tunnel entrance, 1796. Robert Whitworth, engineer. Dressed stone. A curving
walls, with semicircular arch flanked by piers; arch, and piers to a
certain height, have vermiculated rustication. Stone steps to canal at
either side. Foulridge tunnel is the summit tunnel of the canal, projected
in 1789 but finished only in 1796.
