14.6.54 The Manor House
II
House of C17 with earlier origins and C19 alterations. Coursed squared
rubble stone with stone dressings, plinth, and 1st floor moulded band
and Welsh slate roof with stone central ridge and end stacks. Shouldered
stone coped gables with finials, and hood moulds to 1st and 2nd floor
windows. Gable facing, entrance front to left. 2½ storeys of stone mullion
windows, with C19 1 storey extension to left projecting forward. Central
C19 stone and timber framed gabled porch and door with 2-light over and
2-light dormer above. Small oval window to left of 1st floor 2-light.
To right of porch a 4-light with 3-light mullion and transom window over
and 3-light dormer above. On left extension a 2-light on inner return
and 2-light to front. A further window over extension. On left end a
doorway with moulded stone drop arch surround. Rear or garden front has
large projecting gable to right. Here a 4-light on ground floor, a window
over consisting of a pair of 2-light mullion and transom windows and
a 4-light in the gable. A doorway with stone frame in inner return. Otherwise
2 3-light mullion and transom windows with a similar 2-light and 3-light
over, and a 3-light dormer above. Inside an early C17 stone fireplace
with moulded Tudor arch.
