10/44 Lower House Farmhouse

22-4-1967 II

House. Early - to mid C19 with possible earlier remains. Sandstone rubble
with roof of stone slate and artificial stone. Half-H plan. 2 storeys.
Windows are horizontal sashes with glazing bars, plain reveals, stone sills,
and crude hoods. Cross-wings each of one bay. Door, to right of centre, has
plain reveals and hood. Chimneys to left of both cross-wings. The external
details of the house are all of C19 appearance, with no evidence of blocked

late medieval type and might indicate an earlier origin for the house. Interior:
not accessible at time of survey (April 1987).
