Barn, C.1700 or earlier. Stone plinth, timber frame with weatherboard
cladding, slate roof. Rectangular plan of 6 bays. Box-frame construction:
high stone plinth, oak sills, posts and wallplate, curved braces from
posts to tie-beams, trenched-purlin roof with raking struts and collar;
3 purlins on each side, the 2nd having some braces. Side walls in each
bay have central post with knee-bracing, and tenoned rail; in one bay
there is also a rail at knee-brace level joined by studs to the centre
rail. Large wagon doorway on north side of 3rd bay; loft to 6th bay. A
structure of high quality, little altered.
