5/2 The Forge

Estate sawmill and joiner's shop on site of earlier forge, now used for
storage. Mid C19. Sandstone rubble with slate roof. Built across slope: of
one storey on east side, facing road, and of 2 storeys at rear. Windows
have plain reveals and projecting sills. East wall of 3 bays which have
modern windows with glazing bars. Door between 2nd and 3rd bays. Chimney
on right-hand gable. Adjoining to the right is the wheel house with a
lower roof. The west wall is of 4 bays. On the lower storey the left-hand
window is blocked and the 2nd bay contains a doorway. The wheelhouse, at
the left, has a blocked doorway. Inside, a 21-foot high breast wheel with
