Farmhouse, C16 or earlier with wing of 1906, now house. The listable
element, which appears to be the remaining west wing of a formerly larger
house, is of sandstone rubble with large stone quoins, roof of stone slates
at the back, slate at the front, and has an external chimney stack to the
front wall. Three bays and 2 storeys (1st bay obscured by 1906 wing);
entrance in 2nd bay, the opening reduced, above it at 1st floor a small
single-light window with chamfered jambs; 3rd bay has only a large
irregularly stepped chimney stack (continued above the eaves with modern
brick chimney). Left gable has ground floor 2-light stone mullion window
lacking mullion. Rear wall has vertical joints to 2nd bay over which is
timber wall plate with one mortice visible; left of left joint line is
low blocked doorway and at left and right ends of 1st floor are blocked
single-light windows. Other openings are of less interest. Interior:
exceptionally thick stone walls; uniform and unbroken series of 7 large
stop-chamfered beams, the first and last abutting the gable walls; one
timber framed partition wall, fine roof timbers including cambered tie
beams with raking struts, and windbracing.
