Farmhouse. Probably late C17, raised and altered. Coursed sandstone with
quoins, mostly roughcast, stone slate roof with brick chimney, (some brick
apparent at 1st floor, visible internally). Three-bay baffle-entry plan with
projecting porch. Two storeys; plinth, 1st floor band; 2-storey gabled porch
in line with ridge chimney at junction of 1st and 2nd bays has lower level of
sandstone blocks, with plain doorway, roughcast 1st floor with a sashed
window; wooden lean-to in angle to left; to right, recessed chamfered mullion
windows of 5 and 3 lights, an inserted door between these; 1st floor has 4
sashed windows all with 4 panes except that to middle bay which has 6 panes.
Left gable wall has inter alia a 3-light mullioned window at ground floor;
right gable wall mostly covered by lean-to addition with corner chimney, but
has a small attic window and a gable chimney. Rear has inter alia a formerly
mullioned 3-light window to middle bay, 5-light window to 3rd bay (one light
blocked). Interior: stop-chamfered beams on both floors of 1st bay,
roll-moulded beam at ground floor of middle bay; renovation in progress at
time of survey (1985). (Barn to north has re-located datestone probably
1702).
