Pair of columns re-used as gate piers, c.1600. Sandstone ashlar. Each
has a fluted shaft, foliated neck, and egg-and-dart abacus. Said to be
part of the doorcase from a house on the site of Downham Hall (q.v.),
part of which is incorporated into the present house. Whitaker, T.D.
