Picturesque villa, late 1830s. Sandstone ashlar with slate roof. Irregular
plan. 2 storeys. Main front faces south-east and is of 5 bays. Central bay
gabled with mullioned and transomed windows, the ground-floor windows being in
a canted bay with pierced parapet. Set back at the right is a second gable
having a sashed window with no glazing bars, a chamfered surround and hood
mould on the 1st floor and an arcade with 3 4-centred arches in front of' the
ground floor, forming an entrance porch. The left-hand side of the facade has
a bay on the ground floor with 3 sashed windows with no glazing bars, and a
pierced parapet. On the 1st floor are 2 double chamfered mullioned windows
with triangular heads. The eaves parapet rises to form gablets over the
windows. Gables have copings, kneelers, and finials at the apex. Chimneys
have octagonal caps to flues. Adjoining to the left are former stables, now
part of the house, with 2 gables facing south-east. The right-hand gable is
stepped, with a wide double-chamfered 4-centred archway on the ground floor,
now glazed.
