This is showing the end of the house, the newer side . The black door was rarely used. It led to a short corridor by the main stairs. To the right of that door was another door which led down to a cellar. the cellar was extensive, quite a few rooms, and was permanently flooded. Under the garage was an old well, covered over. Maybe there was a spring that was flooding the cellar. The top right window was the bathroom. below was another washroom and toilet. The window at the centre was from the stairway. The narrow window to the left was a sitting room we called the Den. The right hand larger window was to the dining room. This was the older half of the house and had a stone slab floor. The old metal bath on the grass was kept full of water for our small flock of Khaki Campbell ducks. They roamed the grounds and laid their eggs in random places ! We also over the years had a goat, rabbits, numerous cats and dogs.
