Late C17, extended to the rear in C19. Hammer-dressed stone
with graduated stone slate roof. 3 bays, 3 storey with a
central entrance. Both front and rear are twin-gabled but
the rear was extended in C19 to create Nos. 4 and 6.
Imposing symmetrical facade the central door having a
rusticated and pedimented 'surround. Rusticated quoins. Two
4-light ground floor windows, two 4 and a 2-light on first
floor and two 3 and a 2-light on second floor. All have
double-chamfered stone mullions. The gables have been
heightened to accommodate a pediment (similar to that over
the door) above the central window, and each has a blocked
ashlar-dressed circular opening. The adjoining garden wall
completes the composition and includes a rusticated pier.

lintels and sills. A. Holt. Story of Mossley, 1926.
