A Grade II* Listed Building in Pitsford, West Northamptonshire

The Norman tympanum at Pitsford depicting St Michael

Uploader's Comments

The tympanum forms part of the medaieval main doorway. Dating back to circa 1100AD it probably depicts St Michael the Archangel defeating the Devil. It has some similarities with Norman carving in the crypt of Canterbury Cathedral, and may have been made by one of the same crafstmen.
