Terrace house, 1719 by John Witt. Yellow and red brick, slate roof.
4 storeys and basement. 3 windows wide. Entrance to left, arched
wooden doorcase with semicircular fanlight flanked by Doric pilasters
with entablature over. Revealed sash windows, no glazing bars, have
segmental red brick arches and dressings, panelled aprons and C19
bracketed sills. Bold string course over ground floor and cornice over
2nd floor; parapet with coping. Party wall giant pilaster surmounted
by urn shared with No 4 q.v. The interior retains panelled hall with
pilastered arch to staircase, the latter fine carpenter's work with
carved cut strings and turned and twisted balusters, fluted Corinthian
column newels and moulded handrail, simplified with closed string above
2nd floor, panelled dado and walls, doorcases etc. Ground floor rear
room fully ovolo panelled, otherwise plain early to mid C19 interior
features.
