2.
A 4-bay house of 1819, altered.
It has 2 storeys and basement and gambrel roofs and is of yellow stocks with later
stone dressings.
On the ground floor a flight of stone steps ascends to the Doric porch projecting
from the right-hand flank wall.
Ground and first floor windows have later aedicules with broken pediments, the
tympana filled with swagged heads. The first floor windows rise from a cillband.
Above the main cornice a balustraded parapet rises at its centre to an aediculed
die with segmental shell pediment and bearing the inscription in relief:
'Springwell House'.
Behind the parapet the dormers have pedimented heads. The symmetrically placed
end stacks have rendered oversailing courses and square buff pots.
The yellow stock curtilage wall has a stone coping and the gate piers stone bases,
bands and pedimented caps.
Interior: wood staircase with shaped ends to treads, and iron balustrade of simple
scroll panels; marble mantelpieces.
