Office building. 1886 (dated). Red brick and stone
dressings, slate roof. 4 storeys and 4 bays, canted corner
bay and 7 bays to Preston Street. Ground floor of stone
window openings flanked by colonnettes. Corner entrance
with pointed arch and crown finial under ogival hoodmould.
Spandrels caved with foliage and "CROWN BUILDINGS A.D.
1886". Corbelled cornice over. Upper windows have sill and
lintel bands and are mullioned and transomed. Corner bay
has tripartite windows on moulded base, cusped lower lights
to windows. End bay has small gable and corner has
octagonal turret with Lombard frieze and rich cornice.
Short spire with iron finial. Stone pierced parapet.
Preston Street facade is utilitarian; the windows have iron
mullions and lintels under relieving arches. Rear facade
has 6 bays with 2 gables and 2 loading bays.
