block to Frampton
Hall
G.V. II
Walls and stable block. C18, altered mid C19 in fanciful Baroque
revival style. Red brick, ashlar and stucco dressings, ribbed
pantile roofs, stone coped and brick coped gables with tumbling.
The T plan stable block completes one wall of the front court to
the house, the walls further enclose the court and define the
rear yard entrance to the east. 2 storey stable range has
dogtooth eaves. Semi-circular headed doorway with stucco
surround is flanked by single glazing bar lights. Above a
further semi-circular headed doorway. The wing to the left
contains 2 wide segmental headed brick rusticated archways, with
ashlar key and impost blocks, one with double planked doors, the
other with blocking and later glazing bar 3 light window. Beyond
to the left a smaller semi-circular headed doorway also with
rusticated surround. On the south side are 3 glazing bar sashes
with segmental brick head, ashlar cills and keyblocks linked to a
band. The brick walls have elaborately corbelled out
battlemented tops and terminate in brick piers with similar
details. The wall facing the front court has 2 planked doors set
in openings with pecked rusticated ashlar surrounds, it is
stepped up over one doorway and contains a recessed terracotta
and plaster plaque.
