4/97 Nos. 21 (The Limes) and 23
GV II
House, now two dwellings. Early C19 with late C16/C17 core in part. Partly
cruck-framed colourwashed brick and C20 corrugated tile roof with 2 brick ridge
stacks and brick right end projecting stack. Wide eaves with gutters supported
on iron brackets. Two storeys of 4 3-light centre-opening casements. On ground
floor from left, similar 3-light, door (both with cambered lintels) and 2 C19
canted bays with sashes. On right end a 1-light with 2-light over and part-glazed
door in C20 rear 2nd span. Inside No. 23, to left, are chamfered ceiling beams.
Part of a cruck blade is visible in party wall with No. 25 (q.v.) and it appears
that it is the base of this blade which is visible on the front of that cottage.
