Inn. Early 16th century with late 16th/early 17th century and later
alterations. Timber framed. Ground floor clad in brick in Flemish
bond to left of door, English bond to right. First floor and wing
rendered. Plain tile roof. Main range of 5 timber-framed bays.
Later additions to front and rear of left end bay form projecting
cross-wing; rear part late 16th/early 17th century. Rear return wing
to right. 2 storeys. Roof of left wing hipped to front. Roof of
main range half hipped to right, hip returning along wing, which has
higher eaves and ridge. Multiple brick ridge stack to left of centre
and ridge stack towards front of right wing. Irregular fenestration
of 3 leaded windows; small single light under eaves to left, against
junction with wing, and two 3-light casements. 2 small canted bays
to ground floor. Ovolo-moulded mullion windows to rear. Late 19th
or early 20th century brick porch well to right of stack, with plain
bargeboards and half-glazed door. Blocked doorway to right of it.
Interior: only partly inspected. Exposed beams. Gunstock-jowled
posts. Moulded crown-post on moulded tie-beam towards right end of
front range.
