Quartered arms of Sanford impaling Knightley of Fawsley (quarterly ermine & paly of six or & gules)

Near this place lye's Interred John Sanford of Ninehead Esq: onely surviving son of Henry Sanford Esq: and Mary his wife, daughter of Henry Ayshford of Ayshford in ye County of Devon Esq. He married Elizabeth eldest daughter of Lucy Knightley of Hackney in the County of Middx Esq: by whom he had seven sons & seven daughters, 9 of which survived him. Viz. 3 sons William who married Anne daughter of Edward Clarke of Chipley of this Parish Esq: Henry (who married Jane the youngest daughter of ye said Edward Clarke & Ashford. And six daughters. Elizabeth married Thomas Carew of Camerton in this county of Somersett Esq: Mary married Henry Sanford of London Merch't: Susannah unmarried. Amy married Nathaniell Castleton of London Esq: Lucie married John Harwood of Plimtree in the County of Devon Esq: And Penelope married Rob't Incledon of New Inn London Gent. all the rest dyed infants. He departed this life 26th of Septem' 1711. aged 73. In whose memory Elizabeth his said wife erected this Monument in 1717.
