Gothic building of 1866, possibly by Sir G G Scott who was involved in the restoration
of the parish church opposite. 2 storey asymmetrical facade with large gabled
range coming forward on right. Second gabled range to left. Rubble walls with
ashlar dressings. Tiled roofs. 2 gablets over 1st floor windows rise in centre
of roof. All gables have stone copings and kneelers. Weathered sillband. Buttress
in centre of front. Plinth. 3 windows to left and 3 large window in gabled range
to right. Centre 1st floor windows and the large window have pointed arches and
stone mullions and transoms. Plate tracery of 3 and 5 lights grouped under cusped
oculi. Remaining windows are square-headed of 5 and 4 lights with relieving arches.
Coping of gable to right comes down low in centre to end over a small pointed doorway
with projecting stone hood on brackets,

All the listed buildings in Church Square together with the Church of
St Mary Magdalene and the listed buildings in Hammet Street form an extremely
important group.
