Pound lock. c,1620, with C19 repairs. Squared coursed stone sides with C19 red
brick repairs. Gates missing but some timber-work visible. History:
Oxford-Burcot Commission established by Acts of 1605 and 1624 to improve the
River Thames, built this pound lock, and others at Burcot and Ditchley (which do
not survive). Tackle dismantled in 1790 with the building of Abingdon Lock.
