Gate piers at driveway entrance and walling. Late C18/early C19. Pair of tall
ashlar piers with chamfered angles, domed caps; (C20 gate not of special interest).
Run of coursed and squared rubble wall 2 metres high to each side bounding roadside,
dressed coping, ramped up to each end, that to right with ball finial. Further
section of walling at right angles to left bounding South side of gardens, 3 metres
high, part of coursed and squared rubble and part of Flemish bond red brick; former
gateway leading to path to Church of St Mary (qv) now blocked, piers with pineapple
finials. Further attached section of brick walling bounding West side of gardens
and abutting Shapwick Manor (qv); 3 metres high. Included primarily for group
value.
