Lodge. Circa 1845. By G G Scott and W B Moffatt. Coursed and squared rubble,
slate roof with ogee-shaped gables, freestone dressings, ashlar stacks. Tudor
style. L-plan, each wing under a front-facing gable, single bay, 2-light moulded
stone mullioned and transomed windows to first floor, hoods, scrolly pediments; bay
windows on ground floor; to left canted under a stone roof, to right square with a
strapwork parapet, stone mullioned and transomed windows. In the angle between the
wings a tower porch, single light transomed window to each face on first floor, ogee-
shaped lead roof, finial, 2 openings to ground floor, 4-centred heads, later half
glazed door and a later 9-pane casement. Some windows with original iron casements,
diamond paned lights, though majority with later plain casements inserted. Part of
an important group of buildings including Mendip Hospital (qv) and chapel (qv).
The asset was previously listed twice also under List entry 1273959. This entry was removed from the List on 29th May 2015.
