Farm outbuilding, formerly stable or cowhouse. Early C17 with
C20 alterations and additions. Coursed coal measures sandstone,
with ashlar dressings, quoins, coped gables with moulded
kneelers, and a stone slated roof. South elevation. Two
storeys, four bays, with a central ground floor opening within a
plain surround, and a flight of stone steps at the west end,
leading to an inserted first floor opening. Three first floor
2-light recessed chamfer mullioned windows, one now blocked.
Rear elevation with two 2-light chamfer mullioned windows with
dripmoulds above. Two doorways with quoined surrounds and
massive lintels, one now blocked. Interior. Plain collar beam
trusses support a single purlin roof. A massive stone buttress
was added to the east end in the 1950s.
