House, C17 origins, refronted in late C18. Ham stone ashlar; hipped Welsh slate roof, brick chimneyy stacks. 'L'-shape
plan, 2-storeys, symmetrical 3-bay North front. Plinth, rusticated quoins, band course and eaves course; 3-light stone
framed windows with beaded and architraved surrounds; blocked central architraved doorway with two 2-light windows to
either side. Matching 4-bay return wing to rear. Interior not seen. Comprehensive VAG Report refers to C18 penelling
in dining room and of C18 fireplaces; also deep chamfered beams with step and run off stops. House of the Randell
family for more than 300 years; in mid C18 Joseph was the villages major sailcloth maker, hemp and flax dealer: his son
Israel founded the nearby twine works (qv). (VAG Report, unpublished SRO, 1973).
