House and shop in row. C17 or earlier, modified in C19. Ham stone ashlar; Welsh slate roof between high stepped coped
gables, possibly replacing thatch; brick end chimney stacks. Two storeys with attics, 3 bays. Eaves course, continued
as a cornice along north return; above, 3-light hollow-chamfer mullioned windows in wave-mould recesses with labels,
the heads of the horizontal-bar casement infills having 3-centre-arched heads with incised spandrils; below, a late C19
shopfront to bay 1 and most of bay 2, with a pair of 1+2+1-light angled bay windows set on stall-risers, the
lights having imposts and semi-circular arched heads; between these a recessed doorway with C20 door under plain
fanlight; above this shopfront a shallow- fascia with moulded top and lead flat roof; right of bay 2 a simple C19
opening with pair of C20 doors in recess, and to lower bay a 3-light shop window matching the angled bay windows, with
shallow fascia over: two roof lights, to bays 1 and 3. North return elevation has 12-pane sash in plain opening at
lower level. Interior not seen, but reported are indications of a former crosswing plan, with some chamfered beans,
having scroll stops; collar- and-tie roof trusses. Some of the building may have been timber framed formerly (VAG
Report, unpublished SRO, 1975).
