Former house, on corner site; now offices. Later C17. Ham stone ashlar; Welsh slate roof, coated, between high stepped
coped gables suggesting former thatch; brick and and intermediate chimney stacks. 'T'-plan; 2 storeys, 5 bays. Plinth,
eaves course, continuous string over openings at both levels, stepped up over doorway: 3-light ovolo-mould mullioned
windows in wave-mould recesses, rectangular-leaded panes with iron-framed opening lights; doorway between bays 2/3,
cambared-arched and moulded to match, in rectangular recess with incised spandrils, C20 boarded door up 2 steps. Laanto
extension against south-west gable to match, with 2-light window having label and external ferramenta. C20 extension to
rear in reconstructed stone, roughly matching. Interior not fully seen: formerly through passage plan: a C18 staircase
partly modified, fielded panel doors and shutters to windows; the interior considerably modified to meet fire
regulations. The law firm in the building found c1749 and this became the Under-Sheriff's Office in 1947. (VCH, Vol
III, 1974).
