Detached house. Late C18. Cary stone with Doulting stone dressings, but main facade in fine-jointed red brick, Flemish
bond; plain clay tile roof between stepped coped gables, behind parapet on street elevation; ashlar chimney stacks with
moulded caps. Two storeys with attics, 5-bay facade. Ashlar plinth, rusticated corner pilasters, dentilled cornice,
plain brick parapet with moulded coping: 12-pane sash windows in plain openings with gauged brick flat heads and stone
cills; to lower bay 3 a wide 6-panel door set in elliptical arch with moulded imposts and arch architrave, flanked by
Doric attached columns carrying full entablature with triglyphs, metopes, etc. and pediment hood. Some of the
extensions to the rear may be of the same period. Interior not seen. For some years in C20 the home of T.S.Donne, of
the Flax Mill family, who died in 1957. (McGarvie, Castle Cary: Avalon Industries, 1980).
