Farmhouse. Mid-C18 with mid-to late C19 alterations. Red brick with
some grey sandstone ashlar dressings. Plain tile roof. 3 storeys and
attic. South-west (garden) front: brick plinth, and probably C19 modillion-
stone cornice with blocking course. External brick end stacks, top sections
rebuilt in C19 with blue-brick bands and projecting bullnose bricks to
stone caps. Central gabled dormer (doorway) with plain barge boards
and finial. 5 bays; boxed glazing bar sashes with stone cills and gauged-
brick heads with raised keystones; second-floor windows with keyed segmental
stone lintels. Central second-floor window and 2 right-hand ground-
floor windows are late C20 casements. Central C19 half-glazed door (lower
pair of raised and fielded panels) and wooden doorcase consisting of Tuscan
pilasters supporting entablature. 2 stone steps up to door. C19 two-
storey service wing to right; red brick with slate roof, dentil brick
eaves cornice and central brick ridge stack. Late C19 two-storey flat-
roofed block projecting forwards immediately to the right of the main
block. Rear: 5 bays; boxed glazing bar sashes with wooden cills and
segmental heads; recessed blind segmental-headed 2-storey panels in second
and fourth bays, to first and second floors. Pair of C19 ground-floor
canted bays with cornices and blocking courses. C18 oak door (possibly
former front door) just off-centre to right (to avoid staircase) with
6 raised and fielded panels and wooden doorcase with Tuscan pilasters
supporting entablature. Interior: entrance hall with stone floor.
C18 oak staircase at rear, rising 2 floors, consisting of 3 flights around
square well with landings, open string, turned balusters (2 per tread),
and ramped moulded handrail, wreathed to columnular foot newel. 6-panelled
doors throughout with moulded architraves.
