Farmhouse. Mid-C17 with some mid-to late C19 alterations and additions.
Timber-framed with plastered and painted brick infill, partly rebuilt
and extended in painted brick. Plain tile roof. Framing: hall range
has large square panels and rectangular panels (two from sole plate to
wall plate) with short straight corner braces, and cross wing with small
square panels (four from sole plate to wall plate) also with short straight
corner braces. T-plan. Hall range of two framed bays and projecting
cross wing to right of three framed bays. One storey and attic. External
brick end stack to left, integral brick end stack to front of cross wing,
and integral brick lateral stack to C19 rear wing. Large C17
timber-framed full dormer to left with pair of 2-light wooden casements, moulded
wooden cill of former C17 window, and jettied gable with moulded bressumer;
central small gabled eaves dormer with 2-light casement. Hall range
with pair of 2-light wooden-framed metal casements to left, small 2-light wooden
casement to right and roughly central boarded door with gabled porch.
Cross wing with small C20 two-light metal casement to left and small-
paned 2-light metal casement in left-hand return front. Collar and
tie-beam truss to front with queen struts and V-struts. Fire insurance
plate beneath left-hand dormer. Right-hand return front: pair of gabled
eaves dormers with 2-light wooden casements. 3-window front; C19 and
C20 three-light wooden and metal casements. C19 two-storey brick rear
wing incorporating granary with boarded loft door approached by flight
of external stone steps. Interior not inspected.
