15/24 Old Farm Cottage and

Farmhouse, now 2 cottages. Early C17 with eaves raised and extended
mid-C19. Timber framed with painted brick and rendered infill on red
sandstone plinth; painted brick addition and C20 slate roofs. Baffle-
entry plan apparently in 5 framed bays with eaves raised and extended
to rear on right in C19, forming present L-plan. 2 storeys. Framing:
slightly irregular square and rectangular panels, 4 from cill to original
wall-plate, with brick to raising of eaves; short straight tension braces.
Right gable end has queen-strut truss (tie beam replaced) with raking
struts from collar; projecting single-purlin ends with slots for former
lower pair of purlins. C19 casements, one to each side of boarded door
under C20 gabled timber porch,those to first floor directly below eaves
with another to far right. Infilled window immediately to right of right
casement on ground floor. Red brick ridge stack directly above entrance.
C19 addition to rear on right has 2 segmental-headed C20 casements on
ground floor with C20 gabled dormers breaking eaves directly above; central
C19 brick ridge stack. Interior. Inspection not possible at time of
resurvey (February 1987) but right room of main range noted as having
timber framed spine partition wall (square panels with infill removed
at time of resurvey) and plank and muntin screen to left wall. C20 flat-
roofed addition to rear is not of special architectural interest.
